Websters definition of humble(ness):

1 : not proud or haughty : not arrogant or assertive
2 : reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission humble apology>
3 a : ranking low in a hierarchy or scale

Gods definition of humbleness:

1: a place of doing it his way and not ours
2: total submission to his authority
3: the highest place of honor he can bestow upon us...... A man's pride will bring him low,But a humble spirit will obtain honor (Proverbs 29:23).

My definition of humbleness:

1: a hard place to be
2: a total dependence on God and his salvation
3: a place of while down, I am able to look up and..... fix my eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Hey thanks!
I was with my mentor yesterday and in a conversation about 'spiritual authority' we decided it would be good to do a study on humility.

You just got me started!

Blessings,

There's a passage in Psalms ... I always forget the reference ... that talks about sailors who face a storm, they throw everything overboard to keep the ship afloat, they cut things away from the ship that would normally be of importance ... but in storm ... not needed. They get to the end of everything thing they can do ... the psalmist calls this "wits end" ... and then they begin to beg God for salvation. Getting to the end of "yourself" gives you a glimpse of humility. I'm convinced that most of us are never completely humble ... because at humility you don't really know you are there. If you do, is it really humility?
